2025: The Year of NO – How to Simplify and Amplify Your Life and Business

January 2, 2025

As we step into a brand-new year, there’s always this electric energy buzzing around that I love. Everyone’s sharing their reflections, goals, and resolutions, and while I used to roll my eyes at this season of “goal dumping,” I’ve come to love it. Why? Because for me, each year truly gets better.

Not because it’s easier—but because I’m constantly growing, refining, and simplifying. Life is all about progress, not perfection. And this year, my guiding word is NO.

NO is the secret sauce for my 2025 success. But before we dive into why this word is a game-changer, let’s reflect on some key lessons from 2024 and the shifts I’m making to make this year my best one yet.

2024 in Review: Lessons Learned and Mindset Shifts

Last year, my focus was on positioning—getting crystal clear on who I serve, how I serve them, and articulating the incredible value my team and I bring to the table. I invested heavily in mastering sales, messaging, and the art of attracting the right clients. Spoiler alert: it paid off.

We had our biggest sales and profit year ever, even with eliminating all but one service.

But here’s the kicker—I learned that saying YES to too much dilutes your focus and your results. In the process of refining my offers and simplifying my business, I saw massive growth—not just in revenue, but in confidence. We scaled down to just ONE flagship service for one-on-one clients, raised our prices, and leaned into serving fewer people, but doing it better.

The result? Transformation for our clients and for me.

Why 2025 Is the Year of NO

For years, I said yes to everything. Every opportunity, every client, every idea that crossed my path. And while that worked in the early stages, it doesn’t scale.

This year, I’m leaning all the way into NO.

  • NO to distractions that don’t align with my goals.

  • NO to offers and ideas that don’t set my soul on fire.

  • NO to pricing myself below what I’m worth.

By saying NO to the things that don’t serve me, I’m creating space for what does – and this makes everyone I can influence, better. This clarity isn’t just empowering—it’s liberating.

The Big Domino: What’s Yours for 2025?

One of the most impactful lessons I’ve implemented in my business is defining the Big Domino—the one thing that, when focused on, makes everything else easier or unnecessary. For 2024, my Big Domino was positioning. For 2025? It’s processes.

Processes aren’t just about organization; they’re about freedom. The freedom to step out of the daily grind and focus on leading, growing, and dreaming big – because I am 100% a dreamer at heart. With better processes in place, my team operates like a well-oiled machine, and our clients reap the benefits.

But what about you?
If you’re unsure where to focus your energy this year, start by asking yourself:
“What’s the one thing that, if I mastered it, would have the greatest impact on my life and business?”

Simplify to Amplify: How to Set Goals That Work

One of my biggest mistakes in past years was setting vague goals that weren’t measurable. That’s why I’ve flipped the script. Every goal I set now is specific and trackable. For example:

  • Instead of saying, “I want to launch a podcast,” I set a goal to publish 104 episodes in 2025.

  • Instead of saying, “I want to help my clients grow,” I set a target to help them collectively generate $100 million in revenue.

Here’s the trick: At the end of each goal, I add this phrase:
“…or something better.”

This tiny addition keeps me open to possibilities beyond what I can envision right now. It reminds me that my mindset today is limited compared to where it’ll be a year from now. Why put a ceiling on my success when the sky’s the limit?

What Are You Leaving Behind in 2024?

Another question I ask myself at the start of each year is:
“What am I leaving behind?”

For me, it’s the pressure to be everything for everyone. It’s the outdated belief that more equals better. It’s the tendency to undervalue my time and expertise.

For you, it might be:

  • Overcommitting to things that drain you.

  • Undercharging for your services.

  • Hanging on to habits or people that no longer serve you.

Whatever it is, leave it in 2024. The lighter your baggage, the higher you can soar.

Your Word for 2025

Now, let’s talk about your word for 2025. Choosing a single word to guide your year helps you stay focused and intentional. My word is NO because it reminds me to say YES only to what truly matters.

What’s your word? It could be something like:

  • Focus: To remind you to eliminate distractions.

  • Simplify: To prioritize quality over quantity.

  • Grow: To commit to your next level.

Whatever you choose, let it be a compass that guides your decisions, goals, and actions throughout the year.

Let’s Make 2025 the Year of Growth and Impact

This year, I’m stepping into a more intentional, refined version of myself. I’m not adding more; I’m amplifying what already works. I’m saying NO to distractions so I can say YES to opportunities that align with my purpose.
